What license is BurnIT distributed under?

BurnIT is released under GNU public license version 2 or later.

Is BurnIT usable yet?

The BurnIT-1.0.x series should be stable. There has been alot of testing on these releases, but bugs can still be present in the package. If you find a bug report it, please.

The development series of BurnIT (BurnIT-1.x) are stable on the Linux platform.

What does BurnIT require ?

The BurnIT-1.0.x series requires a JAVA 1.1 compiler.
The BurnIT-1.x series requires a JAVA-1.1 compiler and the Swing-1.x files or JDK-1.2.

I want use Swing-1.1 with BurnIT, but how ?

You need to change the source files to Swing-1.1. To do this you have to run convert.pl in the src/ directory.

How do I install JDK and Swing ?

To install JDK and Swing do the following:

cd /usr/local
ftp sunsite.auc.dk
bin
cd /pub/languages/java/java-linux/JDK-1.1.7/i386/glibc/v1a/ (Change for your system)
get jdk_1.1.7-v1a-glibc-x86.tar.gz jdk_1.1.7-v1a-glibc-x86-native.tar.gz
bye
tar xzf jdk_1.1.7-v1a-glibc-x86.tar.gz
tar xzf jdk_1.1.7-v1a-glibc-x86-native.tar.gz
ln -s jdk117_v1a java
Add /usr/local/java/bin to your PATH (/etc/profile and /etc/csh.cshrc)
Go to http://www.javasoft.com/products/jfc/index.html
Download "JFC 1.1 with Swing 1.0.3" to /usr/local
uncompress swing103.tar.Z
tar xf swing103.tar
ln -s swing-1.0.3 swing
That's it :)
